Violin music by P. J. Dodd

While I'm am still working on this I am also practicing lots (in between the mess and chaos of life) while learning a bit more about the technical and faffing of recording. I have Garageband and a decent mic and am learning how to get the best from them.

I aim to record everything I can, so I can hear myself play the tunes everyone knows (including Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and maybe something from the Grade 1 exam). I also want to record my own efforts, again to hear them back as well as share them.

Likely categories for the music will be:

  • Childrens tunes
  • Classical
  • Indie
  • Scales/technical exercises
  • Exam pieces
  • Original pieces by P. J. Dodd (me)
  • Everything else

But first things first...practice practice, some swearing and drink and then more practice.

Indie music for violin

Does it exist? I can find theme tunes, film scores, ye olde folksy drivel and that awful high speed scratchy nonsense that is never far from an Irish bar.

But indie music? Nowhere. They say you can't play The Cure without guitars...oh yeah?

Finger position PDF

First finger positions
First Finger position PDF
I got fed up of having to write all over scales the finger positions and needed a clear, large diagram of the first finger positions. The PDF is a vector graphic so can be printed larger.

A version with blank spaces to write notes is here. Handy for writing down scales etc.
